The Future Leaders United After-School Enrichment and Mentoring program (FLU) established in 2016 at Maynard Evans High School facilitated by the United Foundation of Central Florida, Inc. is dedicated to developing leaders engaged in STEAM education, Leadership Development, College Preparation, Career Readiness, and Service Learning Projects. Future Leaders United is the largest after-school program at Maynard Evans High School developed to bridging the gaps in both educational and mentoring needs of our Community using a holistic approach.
Throughout the academic year the students of FLU meet with elected officials and other representatives advocating on the behalf of their community voicing their opinions on topics such as but not limited to education, transportation, public safety, just to name a few.
Under the direction of the United Foundation of Central Florida, Inc. the FLU Program in conjunction with the Orange County, Florida Government’s Community Action Division - Pine Hills Community Center to establish the first Youth Advisory Board in Orange County. The Youth Advisory Board works together alongside the center manager to develop and implement several programs that were created to provide free youth-driven programming open to students and young adults from all over Orange County. The programming is but not limited too: Drug/Violence Prevention, CPR, Job Preparedness, Financial Literacy, and a Surviving the Moment (Know Your Rights). Our students enjoy seeking to learn new things so that they could help teach it to their fellow youth of the community.
Our students of Future Leaders United, being servants of the community commit themselves to service participating in Turkey Drives, the Taste of Pine Hills, as well as gathering together on Christmas Eve giving away toys to the youth of our community just to name of few of their service initiatives. They've also participated in Black History Competitions, STEM programs, college tours, etc.
As of 2019, the United Foundation of Central Florida, Inc. has graduated a total of 83 students from the FLU Program and has awarded $50,500 in scholarships to those that have successfully completed the program.
On average our students when graduating high school have been accepted to these schools like but not limited to, Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Bethune Cookman University, Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), Florida State University (FSU). Howard University, Rollins College, Claflin University, Virginia State University, Savannah State University, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, Johnson & Wales University, Johnson C. Smith University, Dillard University, University of Tampa, University of Miami, Stetson University, Hofstra University, Agnes Scott College, etc.

ORLANDO, Fla. - A group of about 27 Pine Hills students are in Washington, D.C., on Thursday ahead of Saturday's "March for Our Lives" rally.
The 27 students all attend Evans High School and are in a Pine Hills-based after-school program called Future Leaders United, through the United Foundation of Central Florida.
